Seen usually on the second postoperative day
Symptoms are similar to bowel bowel obstruction
Chest and abdominal x-ray will give some clue ( cecal diameter of 10 cms will aid in the diagnosis)
Serum amylase may be slightly raised
Patient usually doesn't pass flatus or faeces
Drip and suck and rarely endoscopic clinic deflation is required.
